I love to camp, but I've always been more of a spring, fall or even winter camper. After spending a couple of days in the beautiful BC wilderness I remember why summer camping can suck. #1. Mosquitoes. #2. Campfire bans. Those 2 things combined can really ruin a camping trip. Campfires help keep mosquitoes away and it's nice to sit around one after dark. BC is very dry this summer and a lot of our forests are on fire, thus the campfire ban.
We were gone for 2 nights, both nights we ended up going to our favorite hot springs....but a hot springs is no place to be in the daytime on a hot summer day. During the day we drove to a lake where we floated around on inflatable mattresses all afternoon. SO nice.
I loved the breathtaking scenery and I loved hanging out with Colin, as always. We enjoyed some wonderful red wines (Dave, I know you prefer Cab's but Cline from California has an amazing ancient vines Zin for around $25!) We slept lots, talked lots, laughed lots.
We also saw a mama bear with her 2 cubs. We wisely kept our distance and we were inside our truck on the road but it was still very cool.
I look forward to heading back to the hotsprings in the fall when we can soak all day or all night AND have a nice camp fire.
